Dr Vetsch has extensive experience in cardiothoracic surgery. His journey started as a Premedical College student in Aarau, Switzerland, and Degree in Natural Science , Matura C. Then a Senior year – exchange student in high school of Windom, Minnesota. He finished Medical School at the University of Basel, Switzerland (top 5% of class) and spent some time in research for thesis to obtain the doctor degree in the field of Gastrincell Sterometry . He had Special courses in Disaster Management with the Swiss Armed Forces. After finishing his Residency in General Surgery at the State Hospital in Aarau, Switzerland he moved to the USA. He finished his General Surgery residency at Medical College of Wisconsin, Milwaukee, Wisconsin. And Residency in Cardiothoracic Surgery and Cardiac Transplantation,
University of Utah, Salt Lake City, Utah. Furthermore, he did a Fellowship rotation in Cardiothoracic Surgery with W. Dudley Johnson, and Fellowship in Pediatric Congenital Heart Surgery, Hospital for Sick Children, Toronto.
Dr Vetsch holds American Board certification in thoracic surgery and general surgery and served in many leading positions in Administrative tasks including member of the Contracting Committee, Freeman Physician Hospital Organization board member, and President of the Board of the Freeman Physician Hospital Organization. Co-founder and director Pediatric Cardiac Surgery program at Presbyterian. Member of the Marketing and Public Relations team for the Heart Institute.
He is a member of multiple societies and associations, such as Association for Academic Surgery , Society of Thoracic Surgeons , Jasper-Newton County Medical Society Missouri State Medical Association ,Greater Albuquerque Medical Association ,New Mexico Chapter of American Thoracic Society, International Society of Endovascular Specialists ,Society for Vascular Medicine , European Association for Cardio-Thoracic Surgery . And he is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, the American College of Cardiology, and the American College of Chest Physicians.

Dr Vetsch speaks multiple languages including German, Swiss , English , French , and actively learning Spanish. He is a professional Argentinian tango dancer ,and holds an active US and Swiss commercial pilots’ license, including multiengine jet and helicopter and Performs in airshows as a pilot in civilian and military arena.
