Ali Ghodsizad, MD. PhD.

Dr Ghodsizad is a Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgeon,  with several years of experience as MTI Surgical Director Mechanical Circulatory Support and ECMO Program at University of Miami and Surgical Critical Care at Pennstate Hershey Medical Center.
Dr Ali Ghodsizad’s clinical focus has been on heart and lung transplantation, mechanical circulatory support, adult cardiac surgery and structural heart disease. He has over 100 publications and several book chapter contributions and has presented at several national and international conferences in his 20+ years of clinical experience. He has been the Associate Editor for the Journal of Cardiac Surgery and Heart Surgery Forum.
Dr. Ghodsizad has graduated from Medical School of Hanover. He finished his categorical fellowship at the University of Heidelberg with the Board Certification in Thoracic surgery. He was trained in Thoracic Transplantation and MCS at the Texas Heart Institute and Temple University Hospital. He has established a long-standing clinical practice beginning at the Penn state Hershey Medical Center and continuing at the University of Miami and Jackson Memorial Hospital leading the ECMO/MCS program.
The focus of his Clinical research has been on ex-vivo BDB and DCD thoracic organ optimization, NRP, cell therapy, gene therapy and structural heart disease. He is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology, European Board of Thoracic and Cardiac Surgery and the American College of Surgery.
