Our Team

Mikaela has 6 plus years passionately working in organ and tissue donation.  She began this part of her career in tissue doing the surgical recovery of corneas, musculoskeletal tissue, and heart valves for transplant.  She later transitioned into organ perfusion, preservation, and first assist of the heart, lungs, liver, and kidneys.  Prior to donation, Mikaela received her degree in mortuary science/pathology with an FD license and is currently working on her masters in Thanatology.  Mikaela worked for the medical examiner/coroner assisting in investigations and autopsies for several years throughout Northern Californa and Nevada.  She currently lives in the Bay Area and works primarily in thoracic transplant coordination, recovery, and preservation.  As a donor family member and donation advocate, she is committed to honoring the donor’s gift and providing the best possible organ care for the recipient.
