Former associate professor and Clinical Research Director at heart and lung transplant , Mayo Clinic Florida .

Dr Jacob is a former associate professor of surgery at Mayo Clinic Florida, and former Clinical research director for heart and lung transplant program. Initially he was trained in Great Britain with Sir Magdy Yacoub and became a member of the Royal college of Surgeons of Edinburgh. He was presented with the Eastman golden Medal by Lady Limerick in the UK. He moved to the US and trained in General Surgery at Masonic Medical center, university of Illinois, Chicago. He started his cardiothoracic surgery at Yale New Haven as a clinical researcher in heart transplant , then moved to Harvard in Boston and completed his cardiothoracic training , he was the first fellow in thoracic transplant at Harvard and received the golden scissors. After that he extended his training in heart transplant and mechanical support at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas. 

Dr Jacob was the winner of T-Danny research fund, and his Lab is investigating the role of donor mitochondrial mDNA and rejection. In addition, he has three innovation disclosures with Mayo Clinic , Lung transplant retractor, Organs Mayo preservation and transportation device , and Re-do sternotomy zipper. Furthermore, he performed the first DCD heart on OCS at Mayo Clinic campuses. He served as principle and director of multiple basic and clinical research projects .

Dr Jacob is active in academics, he is will published  in high impact  surgical journals , author of multiple book chapters , and has presented at several national and international conferences .He serve as a peer reviewer to multiple scientific journals such as BMJ, Chest , European Journal of Cardiothoracic Surgery, Interactive Journal of Cardiovascular and thoracic Surgery , Oxford publications .

He is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and The Royal College of Surgeons. In addition he is a member of professional organizations and societies  such as , the International Society of Heart and Lung Transplantation, the American Thoracic Society , the American Medical Association, American Society of Transplantation , Imperial college in London , and Scottish Society of Experimental Medicine .
